Teeth: we all have them, and we use them everyday. We use them to bite and chew our food, and we use them to smile and communicate with other people.
A human mouth has 32 teeth in total, with 16 on the top and 16 on the bottom. Most adults have their wisdom teeth removed, which leaves usually 28 teeth in the mouth.
There are also different types of teeth: molars, premolars, canines, lateral incisors and central incisors.
What is a tooth made of?
Everyone knows what a tooth looks like on the outside, but not neccesarily know what makes up a tooth. There are several parts of a human tooth including the nerve, the root, the pulp, the dentine and the enamel. Each of these sections works together to make the tooth healthy.
Not many people realise that a tooth is actually alive. Just because you don't feel a lot when you touch the teeth, doesnt mean they aren't full of life under the surface.
